The Arujale-Ojima of Okeluse Kingdom in Ondo State, Oba Oloyede Adekoya Akinghare II, has directed government officials, organisations and members of the public to address him as “His Majesty” rather than “His Royal Highness”.

The monarch made the clarification in a palace notice published on his official Facebook page on Saturday, urging the public to observe the prescribed royal protocol in official engagements and communications.

According to the notice, the monarch should be addressed as “Your Majesty” in formal correspondence, while official publications, press releases, invitations and ceremonial programmes should identify him as HM Oba Oloyede Adekoya Akinghare II, the Arujale-Ojima of Okeluse Kingdom, Ondo State.

The palace said the directive was intended to ensure consistency in royal protocol and accord appropriate recognition to the status and dignity of the traditional institution.

It urged government agencies, traditional institutions, corporate organisations, media houses and other stakeholders to adopt the prescribed form of address in all official communications relating to the throne.

The palace also expressed appreciation to members of the public and other stakeholders for their continued respect, cooperation and support for the Okeluse traditional institution.
