The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, has donated N10 million to the Igbonna Cooperative Society to support the operation of traders at the popular Igbonna International Market in Osogbo.
He announced the donation on Thursday during a rally organised by concerned market men and women, where thousands of traders endorsed his governorship bid and pledged to mobilise massive support for his victory at the polls.
The APC candidate said the donation was aimed at strengthening the cooperative society and empowering market traders, assuring them that his administration would prioritise the welfare of small and medium-scale businesses if elected.
He also promised to transform the Igbonna International Market into a major commercial hub through improved infrastructure and economic support, adding that his administration would leverage assistance from the Federal Government to enhance business activities across the market.
Oyebamiji assured the traders that the APC would not abandon them, stressing that the party remained committed to improving the livelihoods of the people through sustainable economic policies.
Speaking at the rally, the Director-General of the Osun APC Campaign Council, Hon. Wole Oke, urged members of the market to vote for the APC, describing the party as the platform with the capacity to reposition the state’s economy.
Oke, a member of the House of Representatives representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, said the election of Oyebamiji would usher in a new era of industrialisation by creating an enabling environment for small and medium-scale enterprises to thrive.
According to him, supporting local businesses and expanding economic opportunities would remain a major focus of an APC-led administration in Osun State.
The traders, in their separate
remarks, expressed appreciation for the donation and pledged their support for the APC candidate in the forthcoming governorship election, saying they were optimistic that his administration would improve the fortunes of the market and the state’s economy.
