The Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Oyeyode Oyesosin, has commended the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke for executing several road projects that had long been sources of concern for residents of Ejigbo and neighbouring communities.
The traditional ruler declared that he has directed his subjects to support Governor Adeleke in the forthcoming governorship election, citing the administration’s remarkable achievements in infrastructure development.
Speaking during Governor Adeleke’s visit to Ejigbo on Thursday, the monarch described the completed and ongoing road projects as unprecedented.
“With what Governor Adeleke has done, I want to tell my subjects—you always hear me and understand my language. I want to tell you that we are going to cast all our votes for Governor Ademola Adeleke,” the traditional ruler declared.
Responding, Governor Adeleke said his administration had surpassed expectations despite doubts expressed by critics before he assumed office.
“They once predicted that we would not perform, but I proved them wrong. We have delivered on our promises, and we will continue to do more. I want to appreciate our royal fathers for their unwavering support,” the governor said.
Addressing the Ogiyan, Adeleke assured the monarch that all the promises he made to the people of Ejigbo would be fulfilled.
“I remember all the promises I made to Kabiyesi, and by the grace of God, I will fulfil every one of them. I also assure you, Your Royal Majesty, that you will personally commission the Ejigbo–Iwo Road when it is completed. I love you all, and I sincerely thank the people of Ejigbo for your continued support,” he added.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Osun State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Bello Bashir, disclosed that the Ejigbo–Iwo Road is a 33-kilometre intercity road connecting more than seven communities, including Ejigbo, Ilawo, Iwata, Ijimoba, Alagba, Iwo-Oke, Ibarapa, Amere and Iwo.
He explained that the reconstruction of the road was divided into two phases. According to him, the first phase, covering 12 kilometres with a carriageway width of 7.3 metres, was awarded to De-Log Construction Company Limited and Messrs Time Building and Construction Limited, with each contractor handling six kilometres.
Bashir said the completed 12-kilometre section is now ready for commissioning.
He further disclosed that the 10.7-kilometre Ejigbo–Isoko–Aiye Oguro–Oyo State boundary road has also been approved for reconstruction and will be executed in two phases to ensure speedy completion.
The Permanent Secretary added that the Adeleke administration has also reconstructed the Ejigbo–Ika-Orangun and Gaa-Gbonka roads, covering a total of four kilometres, stressing that all the projects were executed in accordance with approved engineering standards and specifications.
