Opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State is strategising to reclaim the state in the 2026 Governorship Election.
It disclosed this on Thursday in a statement by its State chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, which was issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi.
APC governed the state for 12 years until it lost the state to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, in the last governorship election.
In the statement, it said that it is aware of what the people of the state are experiencing in the hands of the allegedly oppressive and vindictive Adeleke administration that has allegedly literally turned the state into a jungle where the rule of law has taken flight for the rule of force.
The opposition party assured that the hope of the APC reclaiming the state in 2026 is very bright.
According to the party,it has reached a conclusion based on the total aggregate of the sampled opinions and perceptions of most people of the state including members and leaders of the party, gathered in all the 30 local government council areas and the Area Offices during the sensitization tours of the areas by the state leadership of the party.
It noted that the sensitization tours afforded the state leadership of the party an opportunity to gather raw and unprocessed information that would strengthen and energize the party in preparedness for the future elections in the state.
The state APC chairman who was full of gratitude to all the leaders and members of the party for their co-operation and warm reception across the state enjoined them to continue to relive their faith in the party.
Lawal observed that he was surprised at the level of the display of love and affection by the party members as they were trooping out in droves in all the local government council areas despite the fact that the party is not in government.
According to the state APC chairman, another thing that beat his imagination was how new members from other parties including the ruling party were willingly defecting into the APC which speaks volume of the continuous popularity of our party.
He appealed to the members, leaders and supporters of the APC not to waiver but continue their steadfast loyalty to the party that is the only corporate political entity that possesses the magic wand to successfully rule the state.
Lawal alleged that the Adeleke administration is largely being propelled by the impulse of its metaphorical chief driver is an indication that the PDP-led administration in the state would operate like a proverbial snake that passes through the rock without traces.
He said that since he joined politics over 30 years ago, he has never seen any administration as utterly confused like that of the government of the day.
To him, the Adeleke administration has negatively impacted nearly all the sectors of the economy in the state since its inauguration on November 27th, 2022 for lack of competence by the governor.
His words: “Let’s be frank with ourselves. It wasn’t the PDP or any tendency of our party that defeated us in the last series of elections in the state.
“Rather, it was our party members who willingly opened the gate of our prestigious political edifice to political bandits who are now running the state like a conquered territory.
“I want to assure you that our plight is not without redemption. Let’s guide our loins and collectively fortify our precious political entity against intrusion by the political marauders who fraudulently won the last series of elections by rigging through maximum violence unleashed by the militia arm of the PDP.
“Let me once again console the families and relations of the no fewer than 30 members of our party who were slaughtered like rams across the state by the hired PDP thugs with which they succeeded in rigging the elections.
“May the souls of the departed members of our party who were killed by the PDP hoodlums to fraudulently win the elections continue to rest in peace and perpetually haunt those who were responsible for their needless killings in cold blood.
“I want to assure the members and leaders of our party that all the collated challenges that might be facing our party in your various constituencies shall be dispassionately looked into with a view to doing the needful at the state level in that regard”.
