Osun State Government will this week commence the commissioning of a series of landmark infrastructure projects executed by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, beginning with the inauguration of the newly completed five-span Lameco overhead bridge in Osogbo.
The projects, according to the Imole Campaign Council (TICC), form part of the administration’s efforts to improve road infrastructure, ease transportation and stimulate economic growth across the state.
In a statement signed by the Director-General of TICC, Senator Kamorudeen Olalere Oyewumi, the two-day commissioning programme will begin on Wednesday with the formal inauguration of the Lameco five-span overhead bridge.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be performed by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I.
The event is also expected to be attended by the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Adetunji Olanipekun, Larooye II, alongside other traditional rulers, political leaders and stakeholders.
According to the statement, the bridge was constructed to address the perennial traffic congestion along the Lameco axis, improve connectivity within Osogbo and boost commercial activities in the state capital.
On Thursday, attention will shift to Ejigbo, where the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode, Oyeyosin II, will commission the first phase of the 12-kilometre Ejigbo–Ilawo–Iwo Road and the six-kilometre Ejigbo–Isoko–Aye Road.
The event will also feature the flag-off of the remaining phases of both road projects, which the government said are designed to improve access between Ejigbo and neighbouring communities while strengthening local economic activities.
The Imole Campaign Council noted that the commissioning programme marks the beginning of a series of inaugurations for completed projects across the state, adding that more infrastructure projects executed by the Adeleke administration will soon be unveiled.
The council urged residents to take ownership of the facilities and support the government in ensuring their proper maintenance and long-term sustainability.
