With just 33 days to the August 15 governorship election, the Imole Campaign Council, TICC, which is working for the return of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), alleging that they are yet to embark on any meaningful grassroots campaign.
In a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council claimed that the APC had failed to visit any of the state’s local government areas to present its manifesto or engage directly with voters on its plans for governance.
According to the council, elections are determined by candidates’ records and the strength of their programmes, arguing that the APC campaign has largely relied on political rhetoric instead of outlining concrete policy proposals for the electorate.
The TICC alleged that Oyebamiji’s campaign had avoided public scrutiny of its agenda, insisting that politically aware voters in Osun deserved clear explanations on issues such as security, economic development, investment, environmental sustainability, digital innovation, social welfare and inclusive governance.
The council further maintained that Governor Adeleke, in contrast, has continued to interact with residents through project commissioning and the implementation of policies it described as impactful across the state.
It also highlighted the administration’s achievements in workers’ welfare, pension payments and infrastructure development, arguing that these have strengthened public confidence in the governor’s leadership ahead of the election.
The campaign organisation further criticised Oyebamiji over his previous role as Commissioner for Finance during the APC administration, alleging that workers and pensioners experienced hardship under the government. It argued that the APC candidate should explain how his administration would differ from the previous government if elected.
The TICC expressed confidence that Osun voters would renew Governor Adeleke’s mandate, maintaining that his administration has delivered tangible dividends of democracy and placed the state on the path of development.
