Senator Francis Fadahunsi
Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, has arrived at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo for questioning over alleged inciting comments.
Fadahunsi arrived at about 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police in charge of election and security, Samuel Erale, Channels TV reports.
His invitation followed the circulation of a campaign video from an All Progressives Congress rally in Ilesa, in which the senator was allegedly heard speaking in Yoruba in remarks interpreted as urging his supporters to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party.
The comments drew the attention of the police as political activities intensified ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday.
The Osun State Police Command had on Tuesday directed Fadahunsi to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department for questioning over the video, describing the alleged remarks as threatening, inciting and capable of heightening tension ahead of the poll.
