Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned comments made by a member of the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam, describing his remarks against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and key party figures as misleading and ill-informed.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, said Salam’s comments during a television appearance were “uncharitable” and lacked factual basis.

Salam, who represents Ede North/Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency, had appeared on Channels Television on Wednesday, where he made remarks concerning President Tinubu, the APC’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and the Director-General of the party’s election committee, Wole Oke.

Responding, the APC said it was not surprised by Salam’s statements, alleging they were influenced by political grievances.

“We know where Salam is coming from and are not surprised that he could make such unsubstantiated claims about our governorship candidate, who has distinguished himself in both private and public service,” Olabisi stated.

The party further alleged that Salam’s position may be linked to the rejection of defection overtures extended to his political camp. It also claimed that the appointment of Wole Oke as Director-General of the APC governorship campaign has unsettled members of the Accord Party.

On the recent transfer of the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner to Ondo State, the APC maintained that postings within the Independent National Electoral Commission are routine administrative decisions, dismissing concerns raised over the move as suspicious.

The party also rejected Salam’s comparison between President Tinubu and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, insisting that both leaders are not comparable in terms of leadership and performance.

Reaffirming its confidence ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, the APC stated that it remains poised for victory, arguing that the current administration has failed to deliver the level of progress expected by the people of the state.
