Amotekun Corps in Osun State has deployed operatives to parts of Osogbo, the state capital, following recent cult-related attacks, assuring residents of adequate security and intensified surveillance across the state.
The Corps Commander, Dr. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Osogbo on Thursday, describing the attacks in the Egbatedo area on Tuesday night and at Idi-Seke in the early hours of Wednesday as unfortunate and unacceptable.
He condemned the activities of criminal gangs and cult groups, warning that Osun State would not become a haven for hoodlums intent on disrupting public peace.
Also, he said the Corps had immediately deployed tactical operatives to the affected communities and other vulnerable locations to restore normalcy, prevent further violence and reassure residents of their safety.
“The Osun Amotekun Corps will not fold its arms while criminal elements threaten the lives of innocent citizens or destroy their hard-earned property. We are fully committed to protecting every law-abiding resident of Osun State, and anyone found culpable of instigating violence or engaging in criminal activities will be arrested and prosecuted,” he said.
According to him, Amotekun is working closely with other security agencies to monitor the situation, gather intelligence and ensure those responsible for the attacks are arrested and brought to justice.
He appealed to residents to remain calm and vigilant while supporting security agencies with credible and timely information that could aid ongoing operations.
Omoyele also assured residents that the state’s security architecture remains robust, adding that the Corps would sustain intensive patrols, surveillance and rapid-response operations to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
He reiterated that the protection of lives and property remains the Corps’ top priority and urged residents not to panic, assuring them that adequate security measures have been put in place to guarantee their safety.
