Osun State College of Health Technology (OSCO-HEALTH), Ilesa, has introduced a series of enhanced security measures aimed at protecting the lives and property of staff and students amid growing security concerns across the country.

As part of the new measures, the institution has appointed a security expert as its Chief Security Officer (CSO) to oversee the overall security architecture of the college and coordinate efforts to safeguard the campus community.

The management also announced new security protocols that all staff, students and visitors must comply with before gaining access to the institution.

According to an internal memo signed by the Registrar of the College, Mr. Moshood Afolabi, every member of staff and student must present a valid identity card at the main entrance before being allowed into the campus.

The memo further stated that all vehicles entering the college premises would undergo mandatory security screening and be issued a security tag at the gate. The tag must be returned to security personnel before the vehicle exits the campus as part of efforts to monitor movement and strengthen access control.

In addition, the college said motorcycles, unregistered vehicles, vehicles with obstructed number plates, and individuals wearing face masks would no longer be permitted into the institution.

The Registrar explained that the measures were introduced to prevent criminal elements from infiltrating the campus and to create a safer environment for learning and administrative activities.

The memo read in part: “In a bid to ensure security of lives and properties, the College has employed a Chief Security Officer (CSO) whose responsibility is in charge of the overall security of the College.

“It is now mandatory for all motorists to collect a security tag at the College main entrance before entering the College and the tag must be equally submitted while leaving the College to control inflow.

“Vehicles entering the College would be properly screened by the College Security Personnel in order to control miscreants and unscrupulous elements.

Henceforth, motorcycles, unregistered vehicles, obstructed number plates and anybody with face mask shall not be allowed to enter College premises.

“College staff and students must put on their identity cards within the College for proper identification. Any student who fails to wear the school uniform and identity card would be sent back at the College entrance gate.”

The management urged all members of the college community to cooperate fully with the new directives, stressing that the measures are intended to strengthen campus security and ensure a peaceful and conducive learning environment.
