Ondo fixes secondary school admission cut-off mark at 300

The Ondo State Government has fixed the
cut-off marks for admission into public Junior Secondary Schools (JSS 1) statewide for the 2026/2027 academic session at 300 marks.

According to the state’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology successful candidates must score at least 300 marks in the admission assessment.

Aimed at ensuring that only qualified candidates are considered for admission, the exercise, which took place on Monday, is a prerequisite for admission into public secondary schools in the state.

It was chaired by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Igbekele Ajibefun, who stressed the significance of the exercise and commended the successful conduct of the examination.

Noteing that the examination was conducted smoothly and without any major hitch, with the results released promptly, he underscored the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring a credible, transparent and efficient admission process.

Also, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Akindele Ige, said the exercise aimed at fostering a transparent and merit-based admission process that rewards hard work, while ensuring that qualified candidates have access to quality secondary education in the state.

Now, following the exercise’s round-up, public secondary schools principals can start the admission process for eligible candidates who meet or exceed the approved cut-off marks.

Zonal and Area Education Offices statewide are to coordinate the admission process in their respective local government areas.

Expectedly, parents and guardians are to obtain relevant information and guidance on the admission process from the appropriate education offices or their children’s respective primary schools, and to adhere strictly to the guidelines issued by the ministry.
