Ondo begins distribution of appointment letters to newly absorbed teachers

News

The Ondo State Government has commenced the distribution of appointment letters to 637 teachers absorbed into the state’s public primary school system following irregularities that affected the 2025 recruitment exercise.

The Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB), Princess Olufunmilayo Ademulegun-Brown, presented the appointment letters at the board’s headquarters in Akure, where she charged the beneficiaries to demonstrate discipline, dedication and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

According to a statement signed by the Head of the Media and Publicity Unit, Banjo Egunjobi, the beneficiaries were applicants who were affected by lapses in the 2025 teachers’ recruitment exercise. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had earlier promised to absorb qualified applicants who were left out of the exercise.

Ademulegun-Brown urged the newly employed teachers to see their appointments as an opportunity to contribute to the development of the state’s education sector, particularly in improving teaching and learning in public primary schools.

She emphasised the need for punctuality, commitment and ethical conduct, reminding them that teachers must serve as role models to pupils under their care.

The ODSUBEB chairman further urged the beneficiaries to uphold the ethics of the profession, attend school regularly, prepare adequately for lessons and prioritise the academic and moral development of their pupils.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of ODSUBEB, Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole, advised the teachers to familiarise themselves with the board’s operational guidelines and comply with its regulations. She stressed that discipline, diligence and cooperation with relevant officials were necessary for effective service delivery.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Omotayo Arogbowei thanked the state government for giving them the opportunity to serve, pledging that the teachers would contribute their best towards improving education, particularly in public primary schools.
