*Today, I will be representing an earlier post for our reflections – the story of “Rags of Poverty to Robes of Royalty”.*
*This is the story of the globally acclaimed singer – Dolly Parton, who sang the evergreen song – “My Coat of Many Colours”.*
*One of the reasons for the reposting is that there are lots of lessons for the young ones and parents too that we should learn from the story which could be helpful in re-orientaring and general enlightenment of our generation.*
*It was the story of how Dolly Parton’s mother made what the Mum called “Coat of Many Colours” for her daughter-Dolly. A coat which her friends at school called “Coat of Rags”.*
*According to Dolly, somebody gave her family a collection of rag-like clothes, which her mother sowed together to make a “Coat” for Dolly, her daughter, with the story of Joseph in the Bible wearing his Coat of Many Colours to back up this situation in context – Gen 37:3.*
*Dolly had prior to that moment never had a coat before due to family poverty.*
*On getting to school in her “coat of many colours”, Dolly’s friends said she was wearing nothing but rags, but she told them that was not true, and that what she was wearing was a “Coat of Many Colours”. She asked her peers if they had never read or heard about the story of Joseph wearing a “Coat of many colours” in the Bible before?*
*Dolly said her family at that point in time had no money whatsoever to purchase any coat for her,but she felt she was rich in her “Coat of Many Colours” which her mama made for her.*
*_MORALS OF THIS STORY_:*
*1) Teach your children to be contented with whatever you, as a parent,can afford to give them.*
*2) You may have a poor or a reproachful background,if you are diligent and focused enough,this will not put your back to the ground.*
*3) Every man or woman has the capacity to outgrow a limiting and shameful background,without cutting corners, and come out in flying colours.*
*For your information, Dolly Parton later went on to become one of the richest and longest running singers in American history. Winning several Grammy Awards and breaking several global musical record charts.*
