The Osun State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has pledged to collaborate with the state’s Park Management System to ensure effective implementation of the Osun State Integrated Transport, Traffic and Park Management Law.

The corps also called for stronger collaboration among security agencies and other stakeholders, describing inter-agency cooperation as critical to maintaining peace, public safety and order across the state.

The Corps Commander, High Chief Dr. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, made the pledge on Thursday at a seminar organised by the management of the Osun State Park Management System at the Local Government Service Commission Hall, Abere, Osogbo.

The seminar, which focused on the theme, “Highlights of the Osun State Integrated Transport, Traffic and Park Management Law,” brought together security chiefs and other stakeholders to examine the provisions of the law and discuss strategies for its effective implementation.

Speaking at the event, Omoyele commended the organisers for initiating the programme, describing it as an important platform for fostering understanding and cooperation among security agencies and institutions responsible for transportation and park management.

He maintained that the establishment of Amotekun was driven by necessity, explaining that the security outfit emerged in response to security challenges and the need to protect residents of the state.

According to him, the corps has continued to work with other security agencies to address security concerns, stressing that no single institution can effectively tackle the challenges of maintaining peace and order without the support of others.

Omoyele said sustained collaboration among security agencies, government institutions and relevant stakeholders remained essential to achieving lasting security across Osun.

Reflecting on the circumstances surrounding the establishment of the corps, the commander recalled the challenges encountered before the governorship elections in the state, noting that the experiences underscored the need for effective institutional arrangements to address emerging security concerns.

He explained that issues relating to transportation operations, motor parks and public order further highlighted the importance of establishing a structured system for managing activities within the transport sector.
The Amotekun commander noted that the state government subsequently introduced the Park Management System, which received legislative backing from the Osun State House of Assembly before the governor signed the law.

He said the legal framework was designed to regulate park activities, promote discipline and ensure better coordination within the state’s transportation sector.

Omoyele, however, emphasised that the success of the initiative would depend largely on the commitment of the relevant agencies to work together in enforcing the law and addressing security challenges associated with transport operations.

He consequently reaffirmed Amotekun’s readiness to support the Park Management System, assuring its management of the corps’ willingness to collaborate in carrying out its statutory responsibilities.

He expressed optimism that stronger cooperation between the park management authorities and security agencies would improve the regulation of motor parks, enhance public safety and strengthen efforts to tackle security threats across the state.

The commander urged stakeholders to embrace collective responsibility and institutional cooperation, noting that effective implementation of the law would require the active participation of all relevant bodies.
