Osun State Water Regulatory Commission has suspended Royal Gem Multi Sector Ltd, a company previously involved in collecting government revenue related to borehole drilling permits.
The suspension was disclosed in a press release signed by the Acting Chairman of the Osun Internal Revenue Service (OIRS), Hon. Hamzat Solanke, who stated that the action will remain in effect until further notice.
Hon. Solanke explained that the move was necessary due to “encumbrances surrounding the modalities of operations” of the company, suggesting operational irregularities or concerns that warranted regulatory review.
Despite the suspension of Royal Gem’s activities, the Water Regulatory Commission will continue to carry out its statutory responsibilities, including overseeing borehole drilling, conducting water quality testing, and issuing necessary certifications throughout the state.
Solanke emphasized that the suspension does not impact the core functions of the Commission.
Reaffirming the government’s dedication to transparency and public welfare, he reiterated Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to protecting the interests of Osun State residents. He assured citizens that no action would be taken that could disrupt the peace and stability the state currently enjoys.
