UNIMED staff bags Jhpiego award for clinical mentorship

A staff member of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo State,
Dr Mercy Olufunke Iwaola, has bagged honoured with a paward by Jhpiego award for her outstanding contributions to healthcare workforce development and clinical mentorship.

The President and Chief Executive Officer of Jhpiego, Dr Allyson Bear, presented the award to her during the AMPLI End-of-Project Dissemination Event organised by the Ondo State Ministry of Health in collaboration with Jhpiego.

It was a celebration as government officials, healthcare professionals, development partners and other stakeholders gathered to applaud the achievements and impact of the AMPLI project in strengthening healthcare delivery across Ondo State.

Specifically, Dr Iwaola bagged the award in recognition of her exceptional service as a Clinical Mentor (Master Trainer), acknowledging her outstanding commitment to capacity building, mentorship and excellence in clinical practice, all of which contributed significantly to the successful implementation of the AMPLI project.

Besides, the recognition stressed the quality of the university’s academic and professional workforce and reinforces UNIMED’s commitment to excellence in medical education, research, clinical practice and community service.

In his reaction to the honour, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, hailed Dr Iwaola on the well-deserved recognition, describing the award as a testament to her dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment to improving healthcare delivery.

He noted that the recognition reflects the calibre of professionals at UNIMED and the university’s growing reputation as a centre of excellence in medical and health sciences education.
