Osun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the killing of one Adebisi Moruf, whose lifeless body was discovered early Monday morning at the Church Area of Dada Estate, Osogbo.
According to police reports, Moruf was allegedly attacked and killed by unknown assailants while returning from the mosque around 6:30 a.m.
State Police Command spokesman, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident in a statement released to the press.
“The matter happened around 6:30 a.m. One Mr. Oyewole was on his way to the farm when he discovered the body and immediately reported the case at Dada Estate Police Station,” Ojelabi stated.
He further disclosed that the victim was later identified as Adebisi Moruf, and his body was recovered at Church Street, Dada Estate.
“As soon as we received the report, our officers promptly arrived at the scene and evacuated the body. Our intelligence unit has been deployed to begin investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death,” Ojelabi added.
The police spokesperson also noted that an autopsy will be conducted as part of efforts to determine the exact cause of death.
“We are assuring the public, especially the people of Osun State, that the command is fully committed to uncovering the truth behind this incident. We will do everything within our power to ensure that justice is served,” he said.
Residents of the area have expressed shock over the incident, calling on security agencies to intensify patrols and ensure the safety of citizens.
