Participants were taken through hands-on training sessions and practical demonstrations on how to recognize suspicious items, respond to potential explosive threats, and avoid actions that may lead to injury or loss of life. Emphasis was placed on the importance of timely reporting to security agencies and strict adherence to safety protocols.

Speaking at the event, the Commander of the EOD Base 16, SP Godwin Ogigha, highlighted the dangers associated with improper handling of explosive materials, especially within the scrap and waste handling industry. In response, representatives of NASWDEN Osun Chapter expressed gratitude for the initiative and pledged their full cooperation with the Police and other security agencies to ensure a safer community. The association promised to cascade the training to its grassroots members and incorporate safety best practices into its daily operations.

The campaign is part of the Command’s broader strategy to foster collaboration with key sectors and raise public consciousness about security threats in unconventional settings.
