Osun State Police Command has dismissed reports of an alleged assassination attempt on Adebayo Adeleke, son of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, describing the claim as false and misleading.

The police position comes in response to an earlier statement by Osun State Government, issued through the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, which alleged that B-Red narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in the Oke-Fia area of Osogbo.

However, reacting to the report, Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the command’s findings do not support claims of any assassination attempt.

According to him, the incident was officially reported to the police by B-Red on April 30, 2026.

“The complainant stated that on April 29, 2026, at about 3:30 p.m., while driving along the Olaiya–Alekuwodo axis of Osogbo, he noticed he was being followed by a group of individuals on motorcycles,” Ojelabi explained.

He added that the individuals allegedly pointed at his vehicle and made remarks identifying him as “the Governor’s son.”
Ojelabi further disclosed that after passing a traffic light, a white Toyota Venza without a registration number, accompanied by the motorcyclists, continued trailing the vehicle.

“The complainant and his associates were, however, able to leave the area and safely make their way to the Government House in Oke-Fia, Osogbo,” he said.

Importantly, the police emphasised that no attack occurred during the incident.

“The complainant confirmed that he was neither attacked nor physically harmed,” Ojelabi stated.

The police spokesperson added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further discreet investigation.
He cautioned against the spread of unverified reports, noting that such claims are capable of creating unnecessary tension and panic among residents.

“The Command wishes to categorically state that the report, as presently being circulated, is false, unverified, and capable of causing unnecessary panic among members of the public,” he said.
