The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has called on its members and supporters to remain calm and steadfast in the face of Friday’s court pronouncement sropping its forthcoming national convention.
In a statement signed by the State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the party emphasized that the court’s decision does not in any way impede the smooth functioning of the PDP’s administrative or political activities, either at the national or state level.
It assured party faithful that all ongoing political processes, including the nomination procedures for the governorship ticket in Osun State, remain fully on course.
The party noted that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has duly obtained his nomination forms and successfully appeared before the screening panel constituted by the national leadership of the party.
All subsequent stages of the process, he added, will proceed seamlessly and in full compliance with the PDP’s established guidelines.
It further reassured the people of the state that the recent court development is being handled with the maturity and institutional experience for which the PDP is renowned.
According to the statement, the national leadership of the party has already initiated appropriate legal and administrative measures to address the matter without delay.
While these steps are ongoing, the Osun PDP enjoined all members, supporters, and stakeholders to continue their mobilisation and grassroots engagements toward ensuring a resounding victory for the party in the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for August 8, 2026.
The party expressed confidence that with unity, discipline, and faith in due process, the PDP will continue to stand as the true symbol of democracy, stability, and good governance in Osun State and across Nigeria.
The Federal High Court in Abuja had on Friday restrained the PDP from proceeding with its planned national convention, slated to hold next month in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Justice James Omotosho, who gave the order, directed that the status quo be maintained pending the determination of the substantive suit before the court.
