- say APC victory will unlock more federal project

All Progressives Congress chieftains led by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on Friday urged the people of Osun State to elect the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji in the August 15 governorship election.
According to them, an APC administration in the state would accelerate infrastructure development and strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government.
They spoke on Osogbo during the official flag-off of the construction of the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road and the reconstruction of the Gbongan-Osogbo Road, a major federal infrastructure project initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The event attracted a large gathering of party supporters, traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders, youth groups, women organizations and residents from different parts of Osun State, all of whom turned out to witness the commencement of the road projects and to receive the APC campaign team.
Speaking on behalf of the President, Oyetola, described the APC governorship candidate as a competent, experienced and visionary leader capable of transforming Osun State through purposeful governance.
He said Oyebamiji possesses the administrative capacity, political experience and developmental vision required to reposition the state and align it with the renewed infrastructure drive of the Federal Government.
According to him, the forthcoming governorship election presents an opportunity for the people of Osun to reconnect the state with the centre of national development.
He maintained that an APC government under Oyebamiji would enjoy a stronger working relationship with President Tinubu’s administration, thereby attracting more federal presence, investments and strategic infrastructure projects across the state.
The former governor urged voters to turn out in large numbers on election day and vote the APC candidate, expressing confidence that Oyebamiji would provide quality leadership capable of improving the welfare of residents.
In his remarks, Minister of Works David Umahi emphasized that President Tinubu has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to infrastructure development across all regions of Nigeria, irrespective of political affiliations.
He said the ongoing federal road projects in Osun were clear evidence that the current administration is determined to improve transportation, stimulate economic activities and enhance connectivity between communities.
Umahi, however, appealed to the electorate to complement the Federal Government’s efforts by electing the APC candidate, stressing that greater collaboration between the state and the Federal Government would facilitate the execution of additional developmental projects.
Describing Oyebamiji as “President Tinubu’s political son,” the Minister said the APC candidate enjoys the confidence of the President and possesses the leadership qualities needed to move Osun forward.
He added that an APC victory in the state would further strengthen developmental partnerships capable of delivering more roads, improved infrastructure, employment opportunities and economic growth.
Also addressing the gathering, APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, called on the electorate to vote massively for the APC, arguing that the achievements of the Tinubu administration in infrastructure development have already begun to manifest across different parts of the country.
Basiru maintained that the construction of the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan and Gbongan-Osogbo roads reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare of Osun people.
He said the APC remains the only political platform with the experience and capacity to sustain development, urging residents not to miss the opportunity of aligning the state with the party controlling the Federal Government.
According to him, the people stand to benefit immensely from closer cooperation between Abuja and Osogbo if Oyebamiji emerges victorious at the poll.
The National Secretary further highlighted what he described as remarkable developmental achievements recorded by APC governors across the country, particularly in Edo and Kogi States.
He commended Governors Monday Okpebholo of Edo State and Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State for what he called impressive performances in infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic development.
Basiru urged Osun voters to emulate the examples of those states by electing Oyebamiji, insisting that the APC candidate has the competence and vision to replicate similar achievements in Osun.
Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State also canvassed support for the APC candidate, saying governance requires practical leadership, strategic planning and the ability to deliver meaningful development to the people.
He told the gathering that the forthcoming election should be about the future of Osun State and not political entertainment.
According to him, the people deserve a government that prioritizes development, job creation, infrastructure and improved living standards.
He therefore appealed to eligible voters to cast their ballots for Oyebamiji, whom he described as a competent administrator prepared to provide effective leadership.
Similarly, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State encouraged the electorate to support the APC in order to consolidate the developmental agenda of President Tinubu.
He noted that greater synergy between the Federal Government and Osun State would accelerate economic growth, improve public infrastructure and create fresh opportunities for young people.
The governor said the APC remains committed to delivering people-oriented governance and expressed optimism that the party would emerge victorious in the August 15 governorship election.
Throughout the event, party supporters repeatedly chanted slogans in support of President Tinubu and the APC governorship candidate, expressing confidence that the party would record victory at the polls.
The flag-off ceremony also highlighted the strategic importance of the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road and the reconstruction of the Gbongan-Osogbo Road, projects expected to improve transportation, reduce travel time, facilitate commerce and boost socio-economic activities within Osun and neighbouring states.
Political observers noted that the presence of senior federal officials, APC governors and national party leaders underscored the importance the ruling party attaches to the Osun governorship election.
With just days to the election, political activities have intensified across the state as parties continue to mobilize supporters in what is expected to be a closely watched contest.
For the APC, Thursday’s event served not only as the commencement of major federal infrastructure projects but also as another opportunity to convince voters that electing Oyebamiji would strengthen Osun State’s partnership with the Federal Government and attract more developmental projects in the years ahead.
