Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday inaugurated the newly completed Oke-Fia Flyover in Osogbo, and urged regisreeed voters to come out in large numbers to participate peacefully in the August 15 governorship election.
He described voting as the strongest instrument through which citizens could shape the future of the state, stressing that every eligible voter had a responsibility to exercise their civic right and ensure that their votes count.
The governor addressed a large gathering of traditional rulers, political leaders, government officials, supporters and residents at the commissioning ceremony,
He expressed gratitude to the people of Osun State for their unwavering support since he assumed office, saying the confidence reposed in his administration had inspired it to embark on people-oriented projects across the state.
According to him, his administration has remained committed to fulfilling its campaign promises through the provision of critical infrastructure, improved social services and policies aimed at enhancing the welfare of residents.
The governor said the completion of the Oke-Fia Flyover was another demonstration of his administration’s resolve to modernise Osun’s infrastructure and address long-standing traffic challenges in the state capital.
“I thank the good people of Osun State for standing firmly behind this administration. Your support has encouraged us to deliver projects that are transforming our dear state and improving the quality of life of our people.
“I urge every eligible voter to come out in large numbers on election day and vote peacefully. Democracy thrives when citizens participate actively. If given another opportunity to serve, we will do even more in terms of infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment and economic development,” Adeleke said.
He assured residents that his government would not relent in executing projects capable of stimulating economic growth, creating employment opportunities and attracting more investments into Osun State.
The governor further appealed to the electorate to maintain peace before, during and after the election, noting that peaceful conduct remained essential to the credibility of the democratic process.
In his remarks, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun, represented by the Asiwaju of Osogboland, Hon. Justice Moshud Adekunle Adeigbe (Rtd), commended Governor Adeleke for what he described as the remarkable infrastructural transformation taking place across Osogbo.
He observed that the newly inaugurated Oke-Fia Flyover had become another iconic landmark in the state capital, noting that it would significantly improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and enhance the beauty of the city.
The royal father said residents of Osogbo appreciated the government’s investment in infrastructure, describing the flyover as a legacy project that would benefit generations of road users.
“We appreciate Governor Adeleke for this magnificent edifice. Osogbo has witnessed significant infrastructural development under this administration, and this project is a clear testament to the government’s commitment to improving the lives of the people
.
“This flyover will not only ease vehicular movement but also contribute to the continued development and modernization of our ancient town,” he said.
The event also featured a goodwill message from Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, who called on residents, particularly young people, to participate actively in the forthcoming governorship election.
Davido urged eligible voters to cast their ballots peacefully and remain at their polling units after voting to ensure that every lawful vote was counted in accordance with the electoral process.
He cautioned against violence, intimidation and any act capable of disrupting the peaceful conduct of the election.
“I want everyone to come out en masse and vote for the candidate of your choice. Stay back and protect your vote, but do so peacefully. Don’t fight anybody. Let your vote speak for you,” he said.
The inauguration ceremony drew a large crowd, including members of the State Executive Council, federal and state lawmakers, local government officials, party faithful, community leaders, market women, youths and other stakeholders from different parts of the state.
Many residents who attended the event described the completion of the Oke-Fia Flyover as one of the landmark achievements of the Adeleke administration, expressing optimism that the project would improve transportation, boost commercial activities and further enhance the status of Osogbo as a modern state capital.
The inauguration comes just days before the August 15 governorship election, as political activities continue to gather momentum across the state.
