Osun State House of Assembly has passed two significant bills aimed at improving road safety management and enhancing access to justice across the state.

The bills are the Osun State Road Traffic and Vehicle Inspection Service Bill 2025 and the Osun State Multi-Door Courthouse (MDC) Establishment Bill 2025.

At Monday’s plenary, the Majority Leader, Hon. Babajide Kofoworola (Ede North), moved a motion for the adoption of the Votes and Proceedings of October 27, 2025, seconded by Hon. Olujimi Asagade (Ejigbo).

Presenting the report on the Road Traffic Bill, Hon. Abiola Waheed Ibrahim (Irewole/Isokan) explained that the legislation seeks to regulate government and privately-owned driving schools, reduce road accidents, safeguard lives and property, and enhance the state’s internally generated revenue through fines and penalties imposed on offenders.

He added that the bill would help ensure better enforcement of traffic laws and align Osun’s practices with modern standards observed in other states.

The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Akinyode Abidemi Oyewusi (Ife North), and Hon. Saheed Fatunmise (Ife East), commended the committee’s diligence and described the bill as a timely step toward promoting safety and discipline on the state’s roads.

In a related development, the Osun State Multi-Door Courthouse Establishment Bill 2025, sponsored by Hon. Simeon Olufemi Popoola (Boripe/Boluwaduro), was presented by the House Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and Legal Matters.

Hon. Popoola explained that the MDC system would provide multiple options for dispute resolution — including mediation, arbitration, negotiation, conciliation, and litigation — all under one platform.

He said the initiative would decongest the regular courts, promote amicable settlement of disputes, reduce litigation costs and time, and make justice delivery more accessible to the people.

After extensive deliberations, both bills were read for the third time and subsequently passed by the Assembly.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, announced that the bills would be forwarded to the Governor for assent. Once signed into law, they are expected to strengthen road traffic administration and enhance the state’s justice delivery system.

The House later adjourned its sitting to Monday, November 10, 2025, following a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Kofoworola, and seconded by Hon. Abiola Jeremiah (Ife Central).
