Amotekun Corps in Osun State has assured residents of adequate security before, during, and after the forthcoming Eid-el-Adha celebration, declaring that comprehensive measures have been put in place to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free festive period across the state.
The assurance was contained in a statement issued in Osogbo by the Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, through the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, CSA Yusuf Idowu Abass.
According to the statement, the security outfit has intensified operational strategies and deployed its personnel to strategic locations across the state to safeguard lives and property throughout the celebration.
The Corps Commander disclosed that operatives have been stationed at Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, major highways, recreational centres, and other sensitive locations considered critical during the festive period.
He explained that the deployment became necessary to prevent criminal activities and ensure residents celebrate the season without fear, intimidation, harassment, or any form of security threat.
Omoyele stated that the Osun Amotekun Corps remains fully committed to maintaining peace and strengthening security surveillance in all local government areas of the state.
He added that the corps would continue to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure effective monitoring and quick response to emergencies during the festivities.
“We want residents and visitors in Osun State to go about their celebrations peacefully and confidently. Our operatives are fully prepared and strategically positioned to respond promptly to any security challenge,” the statement noted.
The Corps Commander also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information capable of preventing criminal activities.
Residents were urged to report suspicious movements, strange gatherings, or any security concern to the nearest Amotekun office or other security agencies for immediate action.
While congratulating Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Adha, Omoyele advised residents to celebrate responsibly and avoid any act capable of causing violence, unrest, or public disturbance.
He warned criminal elements, cultists, kidnappers, armed robbers, and other troublemakers to stay away from Osun State during the celebration, stressing that the corps would not tolerate any activity capable of threatening the peace currently enjoyed in the state.
According to him, anyone caught engaging in criminal acts or breaching public peace would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Osun Amotekun Corps further reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring the safety of residents and visitors throughout the festive period while wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyous, and memorable Eid-el-Adha celebration.
