The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State has disclosed that a total of 360,794 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are yet to be collected by registered voters in the state.
This development comes as Osun State emerges as the state with the highest number of registered voters across the country, highlighting the importance of active civic participation ahead of future elections.
In a statement on Tuesday in Osogbo, spokesman, Mr. Musa Olurode, emphasized that the ongoing voter registration exercise also includes the collection of PVCs.
He said, “We wish to inform the general public that the ongoing voter registration exercise also includes the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“Currently, there are over 360,794 uncollected PVCs in Osun State. The Commission, under the leadership of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, is calling on all eligible voters who have previously registered but are yet to collect their PVCs to take advantage of this opportunity.”
He noted that PVC collection is ongoing at all 33 INEC Local Government Area offices as well as the INEC Area Office in Modakeke, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily.
INEC reiterated the importance of the PVC as the only valid means of voting in any election and urged citizens to avoid multiple registrations, describing it as both illegal and unnecessary.
“We urge all eligible citizens to come forward and collect their PVCs. Let us all play our part in strengthening our democracy,” Olurode said.
As preparations continue for future elections, INEC encourages citizens to engage actively and responsibly in the electoral process to ensure credible, free, and fair outcomes.
