The Ooni of Ife and Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has expressed grief over the death of his immediate elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, describing him as an accomplished entrepreneur, philanthropist and a distinguished son of Ile-Ife whose life was defined by humility, integrity and selfless service to humanity.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Ooni’s Senior Media Officer, Sodiq Lawal, on behalf of the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare, the monarch said the passing of Prince Adetunji had created an irreplaceable vacuum in the Ogunwusi family, the Ojaja Royal Dynasty and the entire Ile-Ife Kingdom.
According to the statement, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi was born on December 8, 1967, into the family of Pa John Oluropo Ogunwusi of the illustrious Ojaja lineage of the Giesi Ruling House in Ile-Ife.
He distinguished himself as one of Nigeria’s accomplished entrepreneurs and served as the Group Chairman of Primewaterview Holdings, earning a reputation for visionary leadership, innovation and business excellence.
The Ooni noted that beyond his remarkable achievements in business, the late prince was widely admired for his compassion, generosity and philanthropy, touching countless lives through acts of kindness, mentorship and unwavering support.
“Today, the entire royal family mourns not only a brother and son but also a trusted confidant, a dependable pillar of our family and a man whose life reflected honour, dignity and uncommon compassion.
His unwavering dedication to family values, his entrepreneurial spirit and his genuine love for humanity will forever remain a source of inspiration to us all,” the monarch said.
Oba Ogunwusi added that his late brother’s legacy extended far beyond the business community, noting that he consistently upheld the cherished values of the Ojaja Royal Family through exemplary conduct, humility and an unwavering commitment to the progress of society.
The revered monarch prayed for the peaceful repose of Prince Adetunji’s soul and asked God to comfort his immediate family, friends, business associates and all those whose lives were positively impacted by his remarkable journey.
He also extended condolences to members of the Ogunwusi family and the people of Ile-Ife, urging them to take solace in the enduring legacy of excellence, kindness and service the deceased left behind.
“Though his earthly journey has come to an end, his footprints on the sands of time can never be erased. The Ogunwusis are comforted by the fact that Prince Adetunji lived a fulfilled life dedicated to God, family, enterprise and humanity. May the Almighty Olodumare grant us all the strength to bear this painful loss,” the Ooni stated.
Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi is remembered for his outstanding contributions to business, philanthropy and community development, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.
