The Arole Oduduwa and Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has offered prayers for peace and stability before, during and after the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.
Oba Ogunwusi offered the prayers on Wednesday in his Palace in Ile Ife while receiving Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who had paid him a courtesy visit.
The royal father urged all politicians and their parties, the people of the state, and all those who will play any role in the election to prioritise the unity and the collective interest of the state.
His words, “As the election approaches, I pray for peaceful conduct and sustained progress in Osun State.”
Also, he prayed for the governor saying, “May your administration continue its good works for the development of our people.”
The royal father commended Adeleke’s leadership style and inclusive governance.
He praised the governor for what he described as humility, simplicity, and a commitment to governance that benefits all segments of society.
In the Ooni’s words, “You have demonstrated that leadership is about service to all, not a select few. Your projects are spread across the state, and our people can see the impact.”
Acknowledging Adeleke’s administration’s infrastructural strides, the royal father stressed the importance of timely delivery of critical projects in Ile-Ife, describing the Lagere axis as a vital economic hub for the Ife Federal Constituency, which comprises Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, and Ife South local government areas.
He said, “Lagere is central to economic and social activities in this region. Its timely completion will ease movement and boost commerce. We appeal for an accelerated pace of work for the benefit of our people,” he added.
The Ooni therefore appealed to the governor to accelerate the completion of ongoing key infrastructural projects in Ile-Ife, particularly the Lagere Flyover and major road works.
In his speech,the governor assured the royal father of timely completion and delivery of all ongoing infrastructural projects in Ile Ife the cradle of the Yoruba Race.
Adeleke, who was on the courtesy visit alongside the Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Rt Hon Adewale Egbedun, top government officials, and party supporters, told Oba Ogunwusi that his visit formed part of efforts to assess ongoing projects and ensure effective service delivery.
He told the royal father: “I am always happy to see Kabiyesi. You are very charismatic.
“I am in Ife for an empowerment programme and to inspect ongoing projects, including road constructions and the Lagere Flyover. Where necessary, we will ensure contractors accelerate work for timely delivery.”
The visit underscores ongoing collaboration between the traditional institution and the state government in fostering development and stability across Osun.
