The Arole Oduduwa and Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has reaffirmed his support for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

He gave the pledge during a courtesy visit by the newly deployed Osun State NIS Comptroller Morakinyo Akinyemi.

Akinyemi, who recently assumed office, visited the Ile Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife alongside members of his management team to formally introduce himself and seek royal blessings from the monarch

Speaking during the visit, the Comptroller described the Ooni as a highly respected traditional ruler whose influence extends beyond cultural boundaries.

He said the visit was aimed at paying homage and strengthening collaboration between the Immigration Service and the traditional institution.

“I am here to pay a visit and receive royal blessings. It is always a privilege to see Your Majesty, and I am honoured to be here,” Akinyemi said.

He stressed the importance of cooperation between the Nigeria Immigration Service and traditional rulers, particularly in intelligence gathering, border security awareness, and community engagement, noting that such partnerships are vital to enhancing national security.

In his response, the Ooni commended the Comptroller and his team for the visit, describing it as a mark of respect for traditional institutions and their role in governance and societal development.

The monarch also acknowledged his longstanding relationship with the Nigeria Immigration Service and praised the agency for its role in protecting the nation’s borders.

“I appreciate your visit and the work your agency is doing for the country. God will continue to guide and strengthen you,” the Ooni said.

He assured the Comptroller of the palace’s continued support, emphasizing the need for sustained collaboration between traditional institutions and security agencies to promote peace, stability, and development.
