The Olubadan-designate of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, has declared his support for the re-election of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the 2026 election.

Oba Ladoja, a respected statesman, former Governor of Oyo State, and former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, made the endorsement during a courtesy visit by Governor Adeleke to his residence in Ibadan.

Spokesperson to the Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed said the visit was part of a congratulatory tour ahead of the monarch’s official coronation, slated for September 26, 2025.

Welcoming Adeleke, he said Oba Ladoja expressed admiration for his governance style and praised the developmental strides achieved under his administration.

“We hear of your good works every day, and we are proud of the progress you are bringing to Osun State.

“Your achievements should not end in one term—one good term deserves another. As Olubadan, I will personally attend your second-term swearing-in ceremony.”

Drawing parallels between their careers, Oba Ladoja noted their shared backgrounds as Senators and Governors, and commended Adeleke’s continued service as the Asiwaju of Edeland.

In a heartfelt tribute, the monarch lauded Adeleke’s leadership and resilience:

“Osun is not an easy state to govern, yet you have changed the narrative. Your efforts are evident, and the people are happy. My prayer is that you lead Osun to even greater heights. May you overcome all obstacles, and may the good Lord protect and uphold you.”

He also reflected on the legacy of the Adeleke family, recognizing the continued impact of their public service:

“You come from a family of distinguished leaders—your father, the late Senator Adeleke, and your brother, my dear friend, Serubawon, were both trailblazers. Thank you for continuing the legacy.”

In his response, Governor Adeleke expressed gratitude for the monarch’s blessings and pledged to honor Oba Ladoja during his coronation celebrations.

“Kabiyesi, I am deeply grateful for your kind words and enduring guidance. Your leadership is a model that continues to inspire me. I pray your reign is long, peaceful, and filled with divine favor,” Adeleke stated.
