As public primary schools in Ondo State resume classes for the third term of this academic session, the chairman of the state’s Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Rt.Hon. Victor Olabimtan has given teachers a pass mark for high attendance.
A statement by the board’s spokesman, Bisi Agboola, said that Olabimtan, in company of of the permanent secretary and other senior staff of the board were at the L.A Primary School; Sacred Heart Cathedral; Reuben Fasoranti Mega Primary School; St. Peters; and Ebenezer Primary School, Amudipe, all in Akure, the state capital, to monitor the resumption.
He commended the teachers for showing dedication to duty, promising that government will continue to prioritize their welfare.
He reminded them of the government policy that Assistant Headmasters and Headmistresses must have classes to teach.
According to the statement, Olabimtan said that government is working towards achieving the standard one teacher to 35 pupils ratio in schools
He noted that pupils enrolment in primary schools is marginally increasing. This he attributed to the various face-lifts in schools’ infrastrcture .
Mrs.Okuremi Nayeju, a headmistress at Ebenezer Primary School and Mrs 0gunduyile Grace of St Peter, Amudipe thanked the state government for the attention paid to schools.
