*Where leaders fail to show good examples, the followership suffers a terrible dimension of directionlessness.*
*When Apostle Paul said in 1 Cor 11: [1] “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ”, what he was saying was that leading by example is the best dimension of human leadership anywhere.*
*In all shades of human settings : communities, societies, organizations, bodies, and nations,where leaders behave NOT by example, a standard that is below expectation is set, and the fastest and surest way to societal degeneracy is created.*
*Let us consider the mind of God further on this subject :*
*Titus 2:*
*[7]In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works (ie, the elders) : in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,*
*[8]Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.*
*We should note that it is the leaders that behave well that will succeed in influencing the people being led, including the younger ones rightly.*
*It is a well established fact that the younger ones learn more by observing : the actions, the speeches, the dressings,etc of their elders.*
*Gone are the days when leaders considered the soundness of their behaviours before acting out. As of today, leaders seem to have forgotten that if they all want the people they are leading to behave well, they must show good examples to them.*
*Hear another pointer from Jesus in respect of this :*
*Mark 10: [43] “But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:*
*[44]And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.*
*[45]For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.*”
*Let it be known that if nobody is watching the leaders, they are being watched closely by the people they are leading, especially the younger generation around them.*
*The authority to correct the led, is compromised when the standards of the leaders are unhealthy and unworthy. No wonder, most leaders are never seen in positive light to correct the followers around them.*
*The wrong actions of the leaders will only reinforce the negative attitudes and behaviours of the people, instead of serving as the frontiers of correction.*
*For instance, where elders join the young ones in doing what is wrong, such elders forget that they have a duty to guide the young ones forward by what they do. It is such situations that have rolled back the moral rectitude of our societies and organizations.*
*For elders that are leading by example, please don’t compromise for any reason. Be encouraged by the fact that God says you are worthy of double honours :*
*1 Timothy 5:17 -Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.*
