JUST IN: 20 Corps members, one other regain freedom after abduction

Twenty prospective National Youth Service Corps members and another victim abducted along the Owerri-Onitsha Road in Imo State have regained their freedom.

The victims were reportedly abducted while travelling along the busy highway, with details of the circumstances surrounding their release yet to emerge.

Following their release, the 21 victims were taken to the Department of State Services Hospital in Owerri for medical attention.

Their rescue comes days after gunmen reportedly abducted the corps members and another person along the road.

Security agencies had launched efforts to locate the victims after the incident, amid concerns over the safety of travellers along the route.
