The newly appointed National Vice Chairman, South-West of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Diran Iyantan, has assumed duty with a call for greater unity, cooperation and stronger organisation among party members across the six states of the region.

Iyantan, whose appointment was ratified by the APC leadership, succeeds Hon. Isaacs Kekemeke, who resigned the position after securing the party’s ticket to contest the Ondo South Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections.

In a message marking his assumption of office and Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, he congratulated APC leaders, governors, stakeholders and members across Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States, assuring them of his commitment to purposeful and inclusive leadership.

He also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reform agenda, particularly the administration’s stated transition from economic reforms to a new phase focused on prosperity.

Reacting to the President’s Independence Day address, titled “From Reforms to Prosperity,” Iyantan highlighted the President’s declaration that “Now, our purpose is simple: shared and widespread prosperity.”

He said the President’s assertion that “The emergency treatment is over. The foundation has been repaired” underscored what he described as the administration’s current focus on productive employment, industrial growth, agriculture, infrastructure, enterprise and improved living conditions.

Iyantan said the South-West, given its economic and political importance, had a responsibility to remain actively engaged in the national development process and contribute to policies and initiatives capable of expanding opportunities for citizens.

He also welcomed the President’s emphasis on production and job creation, noting the administration’s declaration that “jobs, enterprise, and industrial growth” are at the heart of its economic policies.

The APC National Vice Chairman called on party members across the region to strengthen unity, discipline, communication and cooperation, while assuring them that his leadership would work closely with zonal and state party structures, elected representatives, stakeholders and grassroots members.

“My assumption of this responsibility is a commitment to serve the South-West and strengthen the bonds that hold our party together. I will work with our leaders and members across the six states to promote consultation, cooperation, reconciliation and effective party organisation,” he said.

Iyantan congratulated the APC governors and other elected representatives in the region, urging party stakeholders to place the broader interests of the party and the South-West above individual differences.

On the 2027 general elections, he said the South-West APC would continue its preparations in accordance with the party’s constitution, electoral timetable and decisions of its appropriate organs.

He described the forthcoming elections as an important test of the party’s organisational capacity and urged party structures across the region to remain focused, united and adequately prepared.

The APC chieftain also extended his Independence Day greetings to Nigerians, calling for continued commitment to democratic values, national unity, economic development and peaceful political engagement.

He noted that President Tinubu’s declaration that “The age of reform has done its work. Now begins the age of prosperity” provides the context for the next phase of the administration’s economic programme, adding that the ultimate measure of progress would be its impact on the lives and economic opportunities of Nigerians.

Iyantan expressed confidence that greater cooperation among party leaders and members would enable the South-West APC to build a stronger and more cohesive political structure ahead of the 2027 electoral process.

He wished Nigerians, particularly APC members across the South-West, a happy 66th Independence Anniversary.
