*The higher you want your building to go up, the deeper the foundation must go down.*
*If you operate by any other principle that is different from the above, great the building may fall.*
*Let us situate the explanation above in the context of our levels of HUMILITY.*
*The greater God wants to lift you up, the deeper he will dig deep the foundation of your humility.*
*This is why someone like Jesus Christ, who came as the Messiah and the saviour of humanity, was never born in the palace of any King or in the Castle of any Emperor.*
*He was born where goats, sheep and oxen, and other domestic animals were born into life – the manger. Talk of the odour of such a place, you can guess how it would have been. Yet, that was where Jesus was born.*
*Don’t forget that there were great palaces, beautiful castles and big houses of the time – Jesus was never born there.*
*Hear what the Bible says about the humility of Jesus Christ :*
*Phili 2: [6] “Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God”. This is a function of deep depth of humility.*
*Again, come and think of the ministerial calling and background of our beloved father in the Lord – Pst E A Adeboye – a man with a 1975 PhD Degree in Thermo Dynamics area of Mathematics. But do you know that with his academic background, it was nothing but pure humility of great proportions, for a man of this standing to submit to a man who was a stark illiterate, who never saw the walls of a primary or secondary as the founder of The Redeemed Christian Church of God – Rev Josiah Akindayomi, to come up as his teacher, mentor, guardian and pastor? This was the man under whom the globally acclaimed Pastor E A Adeboye came out and grew up into a global wonder and a monumental phenomenon.*
*Look at the path of greatness for Joseph before becoming a ruler in Egypt – a slave. A house boy. A criminal. A prisoner, before God eventually lifted him up.*
*What about David? A goat keeper. A shepherd of animals. A bush wanderer. A singing minstrel. An instrumentalist. An armour bearer. A run-away fugitive, before God took him to the throne of Israel.*
*Today, you are looking at your means, your achievements, your resources, your exploits and other variables and dimensions of success before submitting to the authority God had placed over you, and lead you forward in faith and other dimensions of life.*
*Let me share this truth and mystery with you – the bigger the clothes of self consciousness you wear, the greater the challenge of humility you will have, QED.*
*This is why several people are not subject to corrections, and being polished for greater things in life -they remain obstinate in their relationship with God and with men. Today, they remain stranded and stagnated.*
*This is why such people cannot grow up in character. They are not ready to subject themselves to being mentored by teachers or leaders God had placed over them or arranged for them.*
*Do you know why some people cannot pay their tithes? Their depth of humility is not grounded. Such people cannot imagine themselves working and toiling all month long, and they claim they are operating on self-conviction that God is qualified for the tenth percentage of their gains and earnings.*
*Let me conclude by asking you this question : “to what extent are you grounded in self-humility before God?”*
*Without this truth of your foundation being deep in God’s humility, you will keep struggling in coming to terms in some areas of your life.*
*Tomorrow God willing, we shall consider some battles of life that your being deep in humility will accomplish for you.*
