Afrobeats star Davido has announced a temporary break from his music career to spearhead the re-election campaign of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The Grammy-nominated artiste made the announcement in Ede, Osun State, during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team, where he serves as chairman.

Davido disclosed that he would suspend his music activities for two months to focus on grassroots mobilisation across the state in support of the governor’s second-term bid.

“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle—not only because he is my uncle, but because he is doing a good job and still has more to accomplish. The job is not done,” he said.

He emphasised the importance of youth engagement in the campaign, describing the mobilisation team as critical to securing victory at the polls.

“We are all here to support him to win the election with our influence. This is one of the most important committees because it focuses on youths,” he added.
The singer urged members of the team to intensify grassroots outreach through door-to-door engagement across all local government areas.

“Let us carry out door-to-door mobilisation, showcasing what the governor has achieved and what he intends to do. Engage people within your communities and communicate the programmes effectively,”.

The mobilisation team includes key political figures drawn from various federal constituencies across the state, reflecting a broad-based strategy aimed at strengthening youth participation and voter outreach.

The development signals a significant blend of entertainment influence and political mobilisation as the state prepares for the 2026 governorship election.
