Court remands man for killing Ghanaian

A young man, Wale Hazzan, is cooling his feet in the Akure Prison for killing a Ghanaian.

He was remanded on Thursday by an Akure Magistrate Court sitting at Oke Eda Magisterial District in the Ondo State capital.

Magistrate N. T. Aladejana, before whom the accused was arraigned, ordered Hazzan’s remand specifically for the killing of the Ghanaian national, whose name and age were yet unknown, at about 09:am at Ifedore West Reserve in the Ondo State Magisterial District of Ondo State.

The charge sheet read “That you Wale Hazzan “m”, on the 19th day of August, 2020, at about 09.00 am, at Ifedore West Reserve in the Ondo State Magisterial District, did kill one Ghanaian national, name and age yet unknown by stabbing him to death with a cutlass hand file and thereby committed an offence contrary to sectin 319(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.”

In his presentation, the prosecutor, Inspector Uloh Goodluck, noted that according to investigation, the suspect killed the victim with cutlass and hand file.

The Magistrate N. T. Aladejana therefore ruled that “you Wale Hassan Male on the 19th day of August 2020 at about 09am, at ifedore west reserve, in the Ondo state magisterial District, did kill one GHANIAN National, name and age yet unknown by stabbing him with cutlass and hand file and thereby committed an offense contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319(1)of the criminal code cap 37 volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.”

The case was adjourned till October 6, 2020.
