Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over what it described as a clandestine plot by the Accord Party to orchestrate political violence across the state and falsely implicate the APC.

In a statement issued on Monday, the spokesperson to the APC, Chief Kola Olabisi alleged that intelligence at its disposal indicates plans by elements within the Accord Party to import armed thugs from neighbouring states to stage coordinated attacks in major towns across Osun on a yet-to-be-disclosed date.

According to the party, the hired individuals would allegedly be provided with customised clothing, including T-shirts and fez caps bearing the APC logo and “AMBO” inscriptions, with the aim of disguising themselves as APC supporters while carrying out violent acts.

The APC claimed that the objective of the alleged plan is to incite public resentment against the party and its governorship candidate, thereby creating a false narrative that links the APC to insecurity ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

Describing the alleged plot as “desperate and outdated,” the party urged residents of the state to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.

“We call on peace-loving citizens to be watchful and cooperate with law enforcement authorities to prevent any breakdown of law and order,” the statement read.

The APC also called on the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to take proactive measures to forestall any attempt to destabilise the state.
