Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved upward reviews of car loans, housing loans and Duty Tour Allowance for workers in the state public service.
The State Head of Service, Chief Segun Odusanya, disclosed this on Friday, saying the approvals were aimed at cushioning the effects of current economic realities on public servants.
Odusanya said the governor approved the reviews after recognising that the existing loan ceilings had lost significant value amid rising inflation, construction costs and motor vehicle prices.
He explained that the car and housing loan schemes were last reviewed in 2013, making them due for another review to ensure they remained relevant to workers.
According to the HOS, the new loan ceilings are expected to restore the purchasing value of the schemes and make them more beneficial to beneficiaries across the state public service.
Odusanya also disclosed that Aiyedatiwa had approved an additional N500m seed fund for the car and housing loan schemes, describing the move as another demonstration of the governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare.
He added that the Duty Tour Allowance payable to officers travelling on official assignments within and outside Ondo State, as well as outside the country, had also been increased.
Odusanya expressed appreciation to the governor for prioritising workers’ welfare, saying the enhanced packages would boost the morale of public servants and strengthen their commitment to the administration’s programmes and development agenda.
