Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Engagement. Mr Steve Otaloro
Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has appointed APC Director of Media & Publicity and seasoned public relations practitioner, Steve Otaloro, as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Engagement.
Otaloro, a prominent political communicator and media strategist from Idoani in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, is expected to bring his extensive experience in political communication, public relations, grassroots engagement and strategic messaging to the new assignment.
His appointment forms part of the Governor’s newly reconstituted media team, which is expected to strengthen the administration’s relationship with the people of the state and improve the communication of government policies, programmes and achievements.
As Senior Special Assistant on Public Engagement, Otaloro will serve as an important link between the government and the public, with responsibilities that will include engaging citizens and critical stakeholders, gathering public feedback, explaining government policies and initiatives, facilitating constructive interaction between the administration and the people, and ensuring that the concerns and expectations of citizens are effectively communicated to the government.
The role also places him in a strategic position to support the administration’s efforts at building public confidence, promoting greater understanding of government programmes and ensuring that the achievements and development initiatives of the Aiyedatiwa administration are effectively communicated across the state and beyond.
Otaloro is widely regarded as a politician with considerable experience in public communication and political mobilisation. His years of involvement in party politics and media relations have exposed him to the dynamics of grassroots politics, stakeholder management and strategic political communication.
A seasoned public relations expert, he has also worked extensively in broadcasting, media production and political communications, producing strategic communication materials, radio jingles, station identifiers, political campaigns and other media content for political organisations, public institutions and media platforms.
His understanding of both the political environment and the media landscape is expected to be an asset to the Aiyedatiwa administration, particularly at a time when effective public communication has become increasingly important in government.
Beyond communicating government activities, the Public Engagement portfolio is expected to provide a two-way communication channel between the administration and the people. Rather than merely publicising government achievements, the office is positioned to promote dialogue, listen to citizens and stakeholders, identify emerging public concerns and help the government respond appropriately.
His appointment therefore adds another experienced hand to Governor Aiyedatiwa’s communications structure as the administration continues to consolidate its programmes and deepen its engagement with the people of Ondo State.
A native of Idoani in Ose Local Government Area, Otaloro’s new assignment also brings to the administration a communicator with a strong understanding of the political and social dynamics of the state.
With his combination of political experience, media expertise and public relations skills, Otaloro is expected to contribute significantly to the administration’s communication strategy while helping to strengthen the connection between Governor Aiyedatiwa’s government and the people it serves.
