The Airport Police Command has arraigned a 47-year-old airport ground handling company employee, identified only as Mark, over alleged impersonation and unauthorised access to restricted areas.
The suspect was handed over to the command’s International Division by the Provost Investigation Unit of the Nigerian Air Force, Ikeja, for investigation and further action.
According to the police, investigations revealed that Mark allegedly uploaded a video on social media on October 7, 2026, in which he claimed ownership of two military combat helicopters and offered one of the aircraft for sale.
The suspect was subsequently arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction after the police concluded their investigation. The case has been adjourned until November 18, 2026.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Airport Police Command, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, warned that such conduct posed serious security risks and could undermine the operations of security agencies.
Olufunke said the case would be pursued in accordance with the law, while commending the Nigerian Air Force and the Airport Police Command for their collaboration in handling the matter.
She noted that effective cooperation among security agencies was essential to addressing activities capable of threatening safety and security within the airport environment.
The police commissioner also urged companies and other stakeholders operating at airports to strengthen employee screening, background checks and vetting procedures to prevent security breaches and protect airport operations.
