Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, describing him as a symbol of wisdom, peace and selfless leadership.
Oba Adediran was reported to have joined his ancestors in the early hours of Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke condoled with the people of Esa-Oke in Obokun Local Government Area, the royal family and the entire Ijesa community over the monarch’s transition.
The Governor described the late traditional ruler as a highly respected custodian of culture whose reign brought unity, stability and progress to Esa-Oke and beyond.
“I received the news of the transition of the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, with a heavy heart. Osun State has lost a distinguished monarch and a father figure who devoted his life to the service of his people and the preservation of our cherished cultural values,” Adeleke said.
He noted that the departed monarch’s reign was marked by humility, maturity and unwavering commitment to peace and development.
“Kabiyesi’s reign reflected humility, maturity and an enduring commitment to peace and development. His wise counsel and stabilising influence will be greatly missed not only by the people of Esa-Oke, but by the entire state,” the Governor added
.
Adeleke further acknowledged the monarch’s contributions to communal harmony and the strengthening of traditional institutions across Ijesaland.
According to him, Oba Adediran left behind a legacy of honour, integrity and dedication to community development which would remain memorable for generations.
“The late Owamiran leaves behind a legacy of honour, integrity and selfless leadership. His contributions to community development and the strengthening of traditional institutions will remain evergreen in our hearts,” he stated.
The Governor prayed for the repose of the monarch’s soul and asked God to grant the people of Esa-Oke the strength to bear the painful loss.
