Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mrs. Taliat Simbiat, an Accord Party chieftain who reportedly slumped and died during the party’s recent primary election in Iwo.

In a condolence message issued on Sunday through his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor described the deceased as a committed political figure and one of the strongest supporters of his administration in Iwo and its environs.

Adeleke said the news of her death came as a painful shock, noting that her contributions to society and political development would be greatly missed.

“Mrs. Taliat Simbiat’s sudden passing has left a deep pain in my heart that words cannot adequately convey. The deceased was more than a party faithful; she was one of our administration’s biggest promoters in Iwo and its environs,” the governor said.

He prayed for the repose of her soul and urged God to grant her family, friends and political associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The governor also reiterated his opposition to political violence, urging politicians to embrace peaceful conduct and see politics as a platform for service rather than conflict.

Adeleke commended members of the Accord Party for the peaceful manner in which they conducted their primaries across the state, describing the calm atmosphere that prevailed during the exercise as a reflection of unity and political maturity.

According to him, the orderly conduct of the primaries should serve as a foundation for greater cohesion and electoral success in future political engagements.

The governor further dismissed allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that his administration was shielding political thugs, insisting that his political philosophy has always been rooted in peace, stability and respect for the rule of law.

He maintained that throughout his political career, he has consistently rejected violence and embraced lawful means in resolving political disputes.

Adeleke argued that those accusing his administration of encouraging thuggery were individuals and groups known for employing such tactics to achieve political objectives.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining peace and security in Osun State, stressing that his administration would continue to promote democratic values and peaceful political participation.
