Dr. Lasisi Olagunju
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has congratulated renowned journalist, columnist, and Editor of Saturday Tribune, Dr. Lasisi Olagunju, on his conferment with an honorary Fellowship by the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL).
He described the recognition as a well-deserved honour that affirms the intellectual depth and national relevance of the awardee’s contributions to journalism and the humanities.
Adeleke, in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, praised the Editor as a shining example of ethical journalism, whose writings consistently promote truth, accountability, and nation-building.
The governor said, “I am delighted by the news of Dr. Lasisi Olagunju’s induction as an Honorary Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters.
“This prestigious honour is a recognition of his insightful, courageous, and impactful contributions to public discourse in Nigeria.
“Dr. Olagunju stands out as a master of the written word — using his voice to advance justice and a better society. His commitment to excellence has brought not only personal acclaim but also honour to Osun State.”
He commended the columnist for upholding the principles of truth and integrity throughout his career, noting that his work continues to inspire readers across generations and spark meaningful conversations on national issues.
“Osun State is proud of Dr. Olagunju. His consistent brilliance and moral clarity have positioned him among the country’s most respected public intellectuals. Being recognised by the Nigerian Academy of Letters places him in the distinguished company of Nigeria’s finest minds”, he said.
Adeleke expressed hope that Olagunju’s achievements will serve as a source of inspiration to young professionals in Osun State, and across Nigeria, urging them to pursue excellence with diligence and purpose.
He said, “May this honour further energize Dr. Olagunju to continue his noble contributions to national development.
“I congratulate him once again and celebrate this milestone with pride on behalf of the people of Osun State.”
