Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has charged the National Youth Corps members deployed to the state to embrace their assigned roles with dedication and passion, coupled with diligence, integrity, and selflessness.
He noted that the one-year mandatory service is for their personal growth, self-discovery, and development.
The Governor advised at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, at Ede, during the swearing-in and official opening ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1, orientation course for Corp Members deployed to Osun.
Adeleke, who spoke through the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye told the Corp members to remember that they are not just representatives of their States of origin but to see themselves as ambassadors of unity, tasked with the noble duty of fostering a sense of nationhood among the diverse people of Nigeria.
He enjoined them to actively participate in the orientation course and immerse themselves in the contents of the program, encouraging them to make a positive impact on the lives of people, not only to focus on their given task.
Also, he assured them of the government’s unwavering commitment to their welfare and maximum security throughout their service year in the State.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the NYSC State Coordinator, Agbor Obim, who welcomed the Governor and his entourage to the historic event, stated that 1,126 Corp members, comprising both male and female were deployed to Osun, adding that, a total number of 1,097 were deployed from Lagos for the three-weeks orientation course.
He thanked the State Government, security agencies, and all stakeholders for their roles in ensuring the success of the NYSC programme.
He urged the corps members not to view the exercise as a mere formality but as a sacred commitment to the ideals of service, unity, and patriotism.
Highlights of the event were the swearing-in and taking of the oath of allegiance, entertainment, and parade, among others.
