Osun State Governor Ademola Adelwke has called for prayers and support from the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria as political campaigns commence ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in the state.
He made the appeal while hosting the leadership and members of the Islamic organisation at the Government House in Osogbo.
Adeleke described the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society as one of the most enlightened and influential Islamic organisations in the country, noting that its wide network across Nigeria makes it a key partner in promoting peace, unity, and development.
He commended the society for its continued cooperation and contributions toward the development of the state, assuring members that their sacrifices and support for government initiatives would not be taken for granted.
The governor also acknowledged the society’s plan to build a new mosque, noting that the state government would explore ways to partner with the organisation to ensure the successful execution of the project.
He subsequently directed the Commissioner for Home Affairs to liaise with the leadership of the society on the proposed initiative.
Speaking on the political situation in the state, Adeleke noted that the visit coincided with the official commencement of campaigns for the 2026 governorship election.
He therefore urged the society to pray for peaceful, free and fair elections in which the will of the people would prevail.
The governor also announced an upgraded version of his administration’s Five-Point Agenda, which he said would serve as the foundation of his re-election campaign.
According to him, the “reloaded” agenda focuses on integrated youth, women and workers’ welfare and empowerment; infrastructure consolidation for social and economic wellbeing; agro-industrial expansion for human development and collective prosperity; affordable and qualitative healthcare and education; as well as an improved and secure business environment to drive job creation.
Adeleke maintained that his administration has largely fulfilled the promises contained in the original 2022 Five-Point Agenda, stressing that the achievements recorded across different sectors justify his bid for a second term.
The governor highlighted several accomplishments of his administration, including the empowerment of cooperative societies with nearly ₦4 billion, implementation of the Imole Medical Outreach programme, revitalisation of the cocoa sector, acquisition of tractors for farmers, and the construction of hundreds of kilometres of roads and major bridge projects across the state.
He also listed the revival of waterworks, the development of a digital economy policy framework for the state, rehabilitation of schools and health centres, payment of inherited pension liabilities, and improved welfare packages for workers among the achievements of his administration.
Adeleke further noted improvements in the education sector, pointing out that Osun’s ranking in national examinations had risen significantly, while the state had also emerged as one of the best-performing in primary healthcare delivery.
The governor assured residents that his administration would continue to pursue inclusive governance, expand development programmes across communities, and sustain policies aimed at improving the living standards of the people.
“My promise to the people of Osun is that we will continue to run an inclusive, forward-looking and people-centred government that will leave no town or sector behind,” he said.
