Following is the full text of his statement titled “Adegbonmire Calls for Unity After Securing APC Ondo Central Senatorial Ticket”
“As a man trained in the law, I have always held a simple conviction: that due process, however delayed, eventually delivers justice to those who hold faith in it. Today, that conviction has been vindicated. Following the review of appeal committee reports by our party’s National Working Committee, under the leadership of the National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, I have been affirmed as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Ondo Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general election.
“I do not approach this moment with triumphalism. I approach it with the same sense of duty that has guided my years at the bar and in public service, the conviction that every matter, no matter how contested, deserves a fair hearing, and that fairness, once established, must be respected by all parties.
“To the good people of Ondo Central, this outcome is yours before it is mine. You stood firm through a season of uncertainty, and your patience has been rewarded with clarity. I want you to know that I see this not as a personal vindication alone, but as confirmation that the structures of our party, however imperfect at times, can still arrive at the right conclusion when integrity is allowed to guide the process.
“I thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for steering our party with a steady hand and for creating an environment where internal disputes can be resolved through legitimate party mechanisms rather than discord.
“I thank Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda and the National Working Committee for the thoroughness with which this review was conducted. And I thank the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, a brother and ally whose quiet diplomacy and commitment to peace within our party in Ondo State cannot go unacknowledged. I also thank Engr. Ade Adetimehin and other stakeholders that I cannot mention, for standing firmly with me through every stage of this journey.
“To those who contested this race with me, I extend, without reservation, an open hand. A primary contest is, at its best, a test of ideas and capacity, not a declaration of enmity.
“I hold no grudge against any person who stood on the other side of this process, and I will not tolerate such grudges among those who call themselves my supporters. We are one party with one mission, and I intend to prove, in the weeks ahead, that this victory is wide enough to shelter everyone who shares our vision for Ondo Central.
“The work ahead is far greater than any single contest. Ondo Central deserves a senator who will translate legal clarity into legislative impact, who understands both the letter of the law and the lived realities of our people. That is the standard I set for myself, and that is the standard by which I invite you to hold me accountable.
“I dedicate this victory to the people of Ondo Central, to the leadership of our party, and to the cause of a united APC marching confidently toward 2027.”
