The Federal Government on Tuesday November 5, distributed palliatives to the victims of the flood that recently ravaged parts of Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Minister of Regional Development, Hon. Engr. Abubakar Momoh, whose ministry handled the exercise, was represented at the occasion by his Special Aide and the Onibudo of Ugboland, Chief ‘Wole Iroaye.
Delivering the Minister’s message at the event, Iroaye said: “I have been asked by the Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Honourable Engineer Abubakar Momoh, FNSE., to deliver these palliatives from the Presidency to the victims of the recent flood disaster in Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
“The belief is that these palliatives will help to cushion the impact of the disaster on the affected victims.”
Iroaye added:”The truck, which contains 600 bags of rice, that we have brought here from the Federal Government through the office of the Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Hon. Engineer Abubakar Momoh, FNSE., is not meant for the entire Ondo Kingdom; it is not also meant for the entire people of Ondo West Local Government; but it is meant solely for the people who were affected by the flood disaster that happened recently in Ondo West Local Government.
“I must emphasise also that this national assignment is being carried out here today with the knowledge of the Ondo State’s Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. And we are doing this in the presence of Ondo State Government’s representatives led by Mr. Adeniyi Adeyosoye, the representative of the Director General of Governor Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation, Hon. Abiola Makinde, who the Governor named as his representative to receive the items alongside the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom.”
