Suspected bandits have abducted a supervisory councillor for Special Duties in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Lamido Muhammad, alongside his two sons in a midnight raid on their residence.

The victims were reportedly taken away by the gunmen, who invaded the family’s home in Wucicciri, Abba area of Zaria, around midnight on Sunday.

The two sons were identified as Aliyu Lamido and Amir Lamido. Their whereabouts remained unknown as of the time of filing this report.

A source familiar with the incident said the abductors had yet to contact the family to communicate their demands or request a ransom.

The source expressed concern over the incident, saying it had heightened fears among residents over the persistent threat of abductions and the safety of communities in the area.

The source also called on security agencies and government authorities to take urgent steps to protect residents and prevent further attacks.

The abduction adds to security concerns in Kaduna State and other parts of the North-West, where armed groups have continued to target residents and communities.

Efforts to obtain a reaction from the Kaduna State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, could not be reached on his telephone at the time of reporting.
