The strange negotiation – 4

Reflection for the day

By Olubunmi Adebayo

*Today, we shall conclude our discussion on this eye-opening topic.*

*Please know that the true character of every fellow will show forth during strange negotiations – every Esau, and every Jacob, in their true identity will be discovered during strange negotiations.*

*As per lessons from this incident, please pay attention to the following :*

*1) Do not negotiate from the angle of Faintingness.*

*If you are at your moment of fainting, then do not make destiny decisions. It will make you push quite desperate buttons. May I let you know that Esau’s problem was not hunger at all – it was that he let hunger push him to take the wrong decision that he took.*

*Let this keep ringing in your head that the verse below is not for fun :*
*”They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength” (Is 40:31). You must take your hope adjustment to a level that you can face anything.*

*2) Ignorance of what constitutes your birthright.*

*Permit me to ask you this : Do you even know what your Birthright is?*

*Every item of value that you do not value will depreciate in value over time.*
*Without any controversy, Esau never really valued his birthright – he was ignorant of what it was : It was at this point that he missed it all :*

*”And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?” (Gen 25:32).*

*Your birthright could be Your salvation, please don’t sell it for anything on earth.*

*Just imagine this for your reflections :*

*”For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mk 8:36)*

*Your birthright could be your calling – please don’t sell it.*

*Your birthright could be that position of advantage you have been given to help others, please don’t abuse it.*

*It could be your marriage, please don’t sell it for a moment of lust and become a piece of bread for the devil.*

*It could be your anointing as given from the Lord, please don’t sell it for any worldly pleasure or self – agradisment.*

*Anything God gave you that carries your future, is your birthright, please don’t sell it.*

*3) It is quite easy for us to blame Esau for his profanity concerning pottage, but the question is what is your own Pottage?*

*That craze for fame or worldly pleasure or possessions? That desire for validation or acceptance.*

*Is it that boyfriend who gives you small money but wants your destiny soiled or destroyed?*

*Is it quick money that could cost you your integrity, or that bait of corruption that is meant to enrich you quickly?*

*4) While we have focused so much on Esau, don’t you ever overlook the role of his twin brother – Jacob in the whole story.*

*Jacob was never innocent you must know that – But he understood value and things of reverence. Your understanding of what is at stake is critical in your journey of life.*

*You will agree with me that Jacob’s method was quite cunning and crafty in taking advantage of his brother’s weakness.*

*But God has His own way of dealing with everyone – and He dealt with Jacob : remember his experience for 20 years in Laban’s house when his craftiness met that of the Captain of cunning and the craftsman of manipulation in Laban, his own Uncle.*

*You need to understand that Jacob was not too strongly condemned like Esau because in God’s judgement, the one who despises sacred things is more guilty than the one who schemes to get them.*

*God said in Romans 9:13 : “Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.” Why? Because God loves those who value covenant, even if they are imperfect in their character.*

*I pray for you that is reading this Reflection, that every strange negotiation where you have already eaten the pottage of downfall and sold your birthright, mercy will speak for you.*

*Know that there is mercy in Christ. Esau could not get it back under Law, but under Grace, Jesus can restore all things. But that depends on your willingness to embrace Him.*

*Please meditate on this Word of God : “I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten” (Joel 2:25).*

*I may not know where you have been involved in strange negotiations, but I know of the God Who can deliver those who genuinely come to Him for help.*

Top of the day to you 👍.
