The need for reconciliation and unity within the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State ahead of the forthcoming elections has been stressed by the senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Senator Olajide Ipinsagba.

He appealed to the party’s aggrieved members to accept the outcome of the party’s primary election as determined by the National Working Committee, in good faith.

The party’s NWC recent decision to substitute names of some of the winners of its primary with new names had sparked off spontaneous protests by some aggrieved APC members in Akure the state capital against the new list of candidates for the National Assembly election released and forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, by the party’s NWC.

They alleged that the new candidates’ list released by the NWC did not reflect the outcome of the National Assembly primaries.

But Ipinsagba, in a statement on Sunday, said all party members needed to sheathe their swords and unite to work for the party ahead of the 2027 general election.

He said the outcome of the primary should serve as a rallying point for all APC members in the state to unite for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and the party’s candidates for the National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly.

In the senator’s words, “I want to appeal to all our party members across Ondo North Senatorial District and Ondo State in general to close ranks, embrace reconciliation, and work collectively towards securing greater victories for our great party in future elections.

“We have the presidential, National Assembly and state House of Assembly elections next year. We need to be united to face these elections and achieve victory.

“Unity remains the strongest pillar for sustaining our great party’s electoral successes and delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.”

He commended President Bola Tinubu for the political wisdom demonstrated in the conduct of the APC nomination process, describing it as a reflection of the President’s unwavering commitment to democracy, fairness and party cohesion.

Also, he called on all stakeholders to remain steadfast in their support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing confidence that the administration would continue to “implement policies that will foster national development, economic prosperity, and enduring peace across Nigeria.”

Besides, he expressed appreciation to party leaders, delegates, political associates, grassroots mobilisers, youths, women and thousands of supporters across the six local government areas of Ondo North Senatorial District for their support during the recent primary and throughout his time in the Senate.

Ipinsagna promised, “I will continue to remain accessible to my constituents and committed to advancing policies and programmes that will enhance socio-economic development, improve infrastructure, empower the youth and women, and promote the overall welfare of the people of Ondo North.”
